Crystal and Bryan ~ Galena IL Wedding Photography

Crystal and Bryan had a beautiful summer wedding at Oak Hill Farm (one of my absolute FAVORITE venues) this past July. I had the best time working with Crystal and Bryan; as well as their friends and family!

A few words from Crystal:
Oak Hill was the perfect place for our wedding – we loved everything about it!  The church was beautiful and Sandra Wolfram, the officiant, was wonderful.  We loved that our guests could leave the church and immediately walk over to the school house for drinks and appetizers.  The setting was perfect for us to set up lawn games for our guests (ladder golf and bags), and the swing and playground surrounding the school house kept the kids entertained for hours.  Becky Reidl (owner of Oak Hill) took care of every detail in the months and weeks leading up to the wedding and made sure that everything ran smoothly the day of.  She and her staff even cleaned up for us after the reception and had everything waiting in boxes for us the next morning!  It was a perfect setting for a perfect day!

When I ordered the lawn games, I ordered the bags set with the Illinois logo (where Bryan went to college) and the ladder golf set with the Nebraska logo (where I went to school). Bryan and I are both teachers, so we loved the schoolhouse at Oak Hill.  To further the theme (and to get our guests to and from the wedding safely!) we rented two school buses from Stratton Charters to transport our guests.

For the centerpieces, I purchased galvanized pails, cut pieces of black contact paper and used Martha Stewart border punches to punch around the edges and “pretty them up”.  I then used chalk markers to write table numbers on the contact paper.  My florist, Jean Anderson, put sunflowers in some pails and used styrofoam to build up the others, then put candles in them.  To add some light and decoration to the tables, I put birdseed in the bottom of small mason jars and then placed votive candles in them and tied raffia bows around the top and put three on each table.

Bryan brewed and bottled 7 5-gallon batches of beer in our kitchen in the weeks before the wedding.  To highlight the homebrew, we ordered chalkboards from etsy.com and used chalk markers to write creative descriptions of the beer and posted them on the bar.  We also bought bottle openers from the Galena Brewing Company as favors for our guests. Table Assignments/Escort Cards – I used the Martha Stewart border punches to punch hearts around the edges.  I used metallic markers to write guest names and table numbers on the cards, then punched a hole in the corner and tied them to the bottle openers (purchased from Galena Cellars) with raffia.
